Driving lessons FAQ: cost, coverage, booking and test prep

Yes. It is something I specialise in. Many learners come to DrivePro Midlands after struggling with confidence or a negative experience elsewhere. Lessons stay relaxed and unhurried so you can build confidence at your own pace.

Standard driving lessons are 2 hours. That gives enough time to practise new skills, settle into the drive and make steady progress. Intensive courses are also available - get in touch for a personalised quote.

DrivePro Midlands provides manual driving lessons only, in a dual-control Nissan Qashqai. There is no automatic tuition at present.

Lessons normally use my fully insured dual-control manual Nissan Qashqai. If you would like to discuss using your own vehicle, contact me and we can check whether it is suitable.

I introduce you to the vehicle, explain the controls and make sure you are comfortable before we move off. Most learners are driving during their very first lesson.

It varies. The DVSA often cites around 45 hours of professional tuition plus private practice as a national average, but nervous drivers, returning learners and confident beginners can sit well above or below that. After a few lessons I will give you an honest view of your progress.

I offer lessons seven days a week, typically between 8am and 6pm, subject to availability.

Please give at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson. Cancellations inside 48 hours are charged at the full lesson fee.

New learners can usually start within about two weeks, depending on diary space. Block bookings often get priority scheduling.

Yes, where suitable. I can usually pick you up from home, work, college or another agreed location within the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire areas I cover.

Pay as you go is £80 for a full 2-hour manual lesson (equivalent to £40 per hour). A 10-hour block booking is £375 across five lessons. Intensive courses are quoted individually.

Payment is by bank transfer, typically 7 days in advance. For intensive courses or block bookings I explain the payment steps when you get in touch.

Yes. Payment in advance secures your booking. If you have questions about payment, ask and I will explain clearly before you commit.

No. The rate you are quoted is the rate you pay. The only extra that may apply is a late cancellation charge if you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice - that is explained upfront.

I cover much of Leicestershire and surrounding Northamptonshire, including Market Harborough, Kibworth, Oadby, Wigston, Great Glen, Kettering, Corby, Desborough, Rothwell and Loddington (LE15, LE16, LE8, NN14, NN15, NN16, NN17 and NN18). If you are unsure, get in touch.

You must be at least 17 and hold a valid provisional licence. There is no upper age limit - I teach learners of all ages.

Bring your valid provisional driving licence. I explain everything before we begin driving, so there is no need to worry if it is your first lesson.

Lessons are planned around the roads and conditions near your booked test centre. Many pupils prepare for Leicestershire and Northamptonshire routes - tell me where you plan to test and we will practise those conditions.

Yes. Whether it is your first test or a retest, I tailor lessons around mock tests, local routes and the skills you still need so you can approach test day with clearer expectations.

You can start practical lessons before passing your theory, but you must have passed the theory test before you can book the practical driving test. I can advise on timing so theory and practical progress together sensibly.
